Djavolja város, The Unique ‘Ghost Town’ in Serbia

Djavolja város, located in southern Serbia, was a unique and strange ‘jungle pyramid’. There are 202 tall pyramid varies between 2 to 15 meters with a width of between 4 to 6 meters. Hundreds of the pyramid is formed by nature created from strong erotion of the rocks.

Most of the pyramid has a sort of cap rock andesite that protect them from further erosion. And when the ‘hat’ was dropped, then the pyramid quickly destroyed by rain. But the faster the pyramid will be ‘grow’ back because of water erosion is very strong in the region.

The locals named the area with város Djavolja which means the City of Satan. They believe the changes there, the collapse of the pyramid, it happens when devils fight each other fighting their territory. The peoples around that area often hear strange noises and creepy. Usually appears when the wind blew hard. Although the sound might be generated by the wind that bounced off the walls of the pyramid.

But the strange and eerie sounds produced it, so strong that can pass through to the villages nearby. Roared, tweeting at night, cause fear for the villagers for many centuries. From there was born a strange stories of legendary to this day they are frightening.
